6H Summer 2017
I hope everyone has had a great Easter break and are raring to go. The final term of Primary School is upon us and it's SATs time!
We will be learning about non narrative and narrative writing, we will be using success criteria to ensure the writing is of the highest quality. The children will be working on improving their writing by looking at sentence structure, punctuation and composition.
In addition to our class novel, the children will work in groups to study a guided reading text. They will read independently and to an adult with the opportunity to discuss the book, and also complete a variety of activities based upon their set book.
There will also be a focus on the SPAG test and the children will work on improving their grammar ansd spelling.
All children will be expected to read each night at home. This does not always need to be their school reading book but can be a library book or a book from home. Please try and ask leading questions about their books such as how characters might feel, or what might happen next and why.
We will be concentrating on Calculations, Place value, Problem solving, Shape and Data Handling.
The children will continue to learn times tables to help with the new arithmetic test. Every week the children will have the opportunity to be tested and if successful will move on to the next sheet. The children have been doing very well with this and it has made a dramatic difference to the maths of children that have learnt them.
