Social and emotional aspects of learning

This is an important area of learning for our pupils if they are to achieve their best and be part of the community. Pupils learn these skills through:

  • Personal, Social and Health Education lessons
  • Inclusive lunch and break times where their learning outside is enhanced and monitored
  • Staff modelling of expectations and appropriate behaviour and rewarding pupils when they make the right choice
  • Positive classroom culture where children feel safe to discuss their feelings and have the confidence to speak out
  • Learning in the community linked to social behaviours
  • Support for pupils’ social and emotional ability through Thoughtful Group and outside agency support
  • A range of resources in class to support social and emotional aspects of learning

Additional support from our in house Family Support Worker
