2W Summer Term 2019

Summer 2 in 2W

With only 7 weeks until the summer holidays we have been very busy in 2W already. Our topic for this half term is holidays. We are going to be going on two school trips. One to the beach and the other to Bewilderwood Adventure park.

IPC Entry Point - We traveled through an airport and went on holiday

In computing we have been learning how to follow and create simple algorithms. We are now investigating how to make different shapes and patterns by creating our own instructions. We used our knowledge of 45 and 90 degree turns to help us.

Summer Term 1 in 2W

We have had a busy start to the summer term. Our IPC topic for this half term is "You are what you eat". We have been learning how how to stay healthy and also about how food is grown. We have really enjoyed trying new foods are are now thinking about how to make healthy choices.

In English we are learning about fantasy stories. We have read Jack and the Beanstalk and also different books by Anthony Browne. Our favourite book was Gorilla and we have written our own stories following this style. Have a look below for some of our writing.

In maths we have been securing our number knowledge. We have used our calculation skills to solve different problems. We are now working on our reasoning skills and explaining how to solve different problems. Mastery Monkey has given us lots of different challenges.

Trip to the Owl Sanctuary

Our topic last term was 'Our World' and we learnt about different birds from around the world. Our exit point for this topic was a trip the the Owl Sanctuary at Stonham Barns.

Here our some photos from our adventure

Year 2 Football Tournament 3.5.19

On the 3rd of May we travelled to Whitton sports centre to compete in a football tournament. For many of the children this was the first time playing in a match. They performed brilliantly and scored some great goals. All children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were role models for the school.
