Finding the missing numbers in a sequence

Think systematically.  What is the difference between 2 numbers?  Is it the same each time?  Can you spot a pattern?

2, 4, 6 ...       The pattern is adding 2 each time so the next number is 8, then 10 ...

10, 5, 0 ...     The pattern is subtracting 5 each time, so the next number is -5, -10 ...

8, 17, 35 ...   The pattern is doubling and adding 1, so the next number will be 71, 143 ...

Choose your Chilli Challenge 1, 2, 3, or a mixture.

Il fait chaud.

Il fait froid.

Il neige.

Il fait du vent.

It rains / It’s raining.

It’s fine.

We can use this vocabulary to describe what the weather is like at different times of the year.

For example:

En janvier, il neige.

In January, it snows.

Remember that en means in when we are talking about times of the year.

Also remember:

  • Words for months in French do not begin with a capital.
  • Words for months in English do begin with a capital.

Match the French and English sentences.

En mars, il fait du vent.

In December it’s cold.

En juillet, il fait chaud.

In May, it’s fine.

En décembre, il fait froid.

In July, it’s hot.

En mai, il fait beau.

In April, it rains.

En avril, il pleut.

In March, it’s windy.

Challenge:

Write some sentences of your own to describe the weather during different months of the year.
